From the obvious to the "Hey-I-never-thought-of-that-great-idea-before", here are 10 of the top 52 tips on how to optimize your website for its turbo-charge rocket ride up the search engine rankings.

Be bold.Use the tags around some of your keywords on each page. Do NOT use them everywhere the keyword appears. Once or twice is plenty.

Deep linking.Make sure you have links coming in to as many pages as possible. What does it tell a search engine when other web sites are linking to different pages on your site? That you obviously have lots of worthwhile content. What does it tell a search engine that all your links are coming in to the home page? That you have a shallow site of little value, or that your links were generated by automation rather than by the value of your site. Here is an example ofdeep linking, in this case to mypersonal happiness workbook.

Become a foreigner.Canada and the UK have many directories for websites of companies based in those countries. Can you get a business address in one of those countries?

Social bookmarking.Make it easy for your visitors to social bookmark your website, creating important links that the search engines value. There are plenty of free social bookmarking widgets available. We offerThe Bookmarketer

The BookMarketer Free bookmarketing power tool.

Newsletters.Offer articles to ezine publishers that archive their ezines. The links stay live often for many years in their archives.

First come, first served. If you must have image links in your navigation bar, include also text links. However, make sure the text links show up first in the source code, because search engine robots will follow the first link they find to any particular page. They won't follow additional links to the same page. You can see this in action at the link to the home page on thisweb site monitoring page

Multiple domains. If you have several topics that could each support their own website, it might be worth having multiple domains. Why? First, search engines usually list only one page per domain for any given search, and you might warrant two. Second, directories usually accept only home pages, so you can get more directory listings this way. Why not a site dedicated to gumbo pudding pops?

Article exchanges. You've heard of link exchanges, useless as they generally are. Article exchanges are like link exchanges, only much more useful. You publish someone else's article on the history of pudding pops with a link back to their site. They publish your article on the top ten pudding pop flavors in Viet Nam, with a link back to your site. You both have content. You both get high quality links. (More on high quality links in other tips.)

Titles for links.Links can get titles, too. Not only does this help visually impaired surfers know where you are sending them, but some search engines figure this into their relevancy for a page.

Not anchor text.Don't overdo the anchor text. You don't want all your inbound links looking the same, because that looks like automation - something Google frowns upon. Use your URL sometimes, your company name other times, "Gumbo Pudding Pop" occasionally, "Get gumbo pudding pops" as well, "Gumbo-flavored pudding pops" some other times, etc.

Site map.A big site needs a site map, which should be linked to from every page on the site. This will help the search engine robots find every page with just two clicks. A small site needs a site map, too. It's called the navigation bar. See how the second navigation bar at the bottom ofLast Minute Florida Villasis like a mini-site map?

Google Friendly Website Design - Instant SEO Tips

With Search Engine like Google being the "Windows" to the internet world, designing SEO friendly websites has been a core consideration for every designer.
So what do you look out for?
• For Meta Title, try to have keywords at 100% prominence or at least 75% • Use Keywords in your first 3 image alt text and maybe the last • Keep keyword density to between 3% -7% • Keep important pages at the top 2 directory levels • Submit Your Website to DMOZ & Yahoo Directory
Here some quick Tips
(1) Meta Title - 100% Prominence. Prominence refers to how close to the top & beginning of analyzed page area (e.g. page title, heading, visible text). Each area calculated separately. For the meta title area, try to have your keywords at 100% prominence
E.g. For Keyword "Hippopotamus Website Designers" 1. Furniture Market - Hippopotamus Website Designers at affordable prices (60% prominence) 2. Hippopotamus Website Designers at affordable prices - FurnitureMarket.com (100% prominence)
(2) Image Alt Tag, use Keywords in first 3 and maybe the last. Search Engines use the text in the alt tags to substitute the anchor link text if the image is a hyperlink.
E.g: img src="images/logo.gif" alt=" Hippopotamus Website Designers " width="350" height ="800" / Use ALT text as long as you are also describing the graphic). Google often picks up the first ALT text on the page & uses it in SERP. To avoid spamming, never remove the actual graphic description from the ALT attributes & do not plant your key phrase into more than the first 3 ALT image & then perhaps the last one as well.
(3) Keyword Density -In general the content of a page should include a minimum of 100 words, with keyword density around 3% to 7%
Keyword weight / density = (no. of words in key phrase X Frequency) / Total no. of word (including keyword)
(4) Files & Folders -This generally refers to how files & directories are organized on a server. Most search engines index sites to a depth of 2 levels. Google is able to index 4 levels from the page they start and perhaps even more. Content in the top 2 directory levels are generally regarded as the most important.
(5) Off-Page - DMOZ & Yahoo Directory - If you are considering directories in off-page optimization, just work on DMOZ and Yahoo Directory. The majority of directories out there have little link value. DMOZ & Yahoo often will only allow using the site's name as anchor text. . This is usually where a keyword-rich domain name really comes in handy. So Website Designers, do take note!
Conclusion While SEO optimization is known to most internet users as an expressway to attract productive web traffic, it is important that website designers do not neglect their human visitors. Create coherent content with human users in mind before optimizing your website with SEO goals in mind.
Website Designers should also note that in terms of link building, it is important to note that Google favors quality over quantity. Test out these simple tips today and see the impact on your ranking.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - A Beginners Guide To Increase Site Traffic

In order to successfully create a Web site that will generate enough traffic for it to be productive, especially in the case of online business, Webmasters or site owners are now incorporating the use of search engine optimization (SEO) to achieve this goal.

How SEO Works?

Search engines allow Web surfers to look for information on the Internet using keywords. The algorithm utilized by these engines will compare the user's keywords with those found on the content of different Web sites.

Depending on the density of keywords, the search engine will determine the rank of each of these sites and place them accordingly on search engine results. The higher the rank is, the bigger the possibility that your site will be placed on the top most lists. This is how search engine optimization works

The Webmaster should create a Web site that will contain these keywords, with some variations, so that search engines can pick them up. The thought might occur to you that it would be safe to spam keywords on your site to achieve this goal -- well you're wrong. Search engines can ban your Web site from their index if the algorithm determines a keyword spammer during the look-up process. So it's best to limit your keyword to minimum, yet providing maximum SEO compatibility.

Applying SEO To Your Web Site

The first step to search engine optimization is to properly utilize keywords into different areas of your Web site. You might delve into a little bit of HTML programming in the process, so that you can also incorporate these keywords into the META codes of your Web document.

For starters, you need to have a domain name that contains keywords that will reflect the overall theme of your site. Next, you need to add keywords under your document's header tags, which include the title and META.

A META tag is simply your Web document's description. This contains a few lines that will describe your site and the contents found inside. In most cases, search engine algorithms will look for these keywords on the site description before the content found on the body of your Web document.

The META tag is where some individuals spam keywords in hopes to achieve high ranking in search engine results, and get banned in the process.

The body of your Web document is where most informative content of your site is found. It will reflect the theme of your site, as well as the products and services if it was created for online business. You need to incorporate keywords into the main page of your site, as well as the rest of the pages to improve search engine coverage.

In truth, you can either optimize your site on your own or ask SEO experts to do it for you. In both cases, a successful optimization would yield positive results in your overall site traffic during the course of its operation, which would be beneficial to you or your business.
